What do you do for your brand when social media is down?

I have been spending so much time in business trying to be a content creator, I neglected email marketing, sms marketing and other ways to engage with customers, but after

Instagram crashed today and left tons of people disconnected from their day-to-day customers.

But after today, here are some of the marketing efforts I will incorporate to stay engaged while IG is down:

• Email Marketing

Do you have a website? If you do you should be taking full advantage of the emails added to your mailing list and use it as a way to talk about current events, and engage with customers that may not be on social media.

• SMS Marketing

If you have every purchased anything online, you know those stores STAY texting you for every sale, event, holiday and other time to get your attention. Your words hold weight and what better way to show your commitment to customers than sending them a personal text.

• Cold Calls

Call your customers directly! For my industry this would be a perfect time to call customers and ask them what they are doing since social media is down and then sell them on email marketing and other useful tools to communicate outside of IG.

Calling is probably one of my favorite methods because it is so direct and harder for people to turn you down. For example if I owned a boutique I would say, “Hey Customer Name, Spring break is coming up if you have any vacations planned, check out our new line if swimwear a vacay looks, I think you would look perfect in. I noticed you haven’t treated yourself in a while and I think one swim suite wouldn’t hurt.”

And just like that you’re connected with a potential customer, like they never left.
